Kindred Spirits Project - The Mountain
My M.F.A thesis, Kindred Spirits, explored the entrepreneurial role of professional illustrators and the skills and mindset behind their success. This research path encouraged me to conceive a surface design brand which merges illustration with product design to create a realm of enjoyable home-decor objects. This capsule collection, divided into four themes: The Mountain, The River, The Meadow, and The Forest, is infused with narratives and personal stories from my hometown: Pereira, Colombia which is meant to engage and speak with the inner child of my audience. For each theme, three different illustrated pieces/products were developed: A spot Illustration, a repeat pattern design, and a needle felted plush toy. The major goal was to swiftly translate two-dimensional images into three-dimensional products and vice-versa.
